Technology implementation for $120m organisation
A national student accommodation provider came to Gibsons seeking an end-to-end Technology Strategy.
A specialist task like this is often outside the scope of expertise of even an internal IT department given its multi-stakeholder implications and the high importance of customer experience in any outcome.
Existing technology was not meeting needs and had led to significant accounting and administration issues.
There was no trust in the data provided by the installed software.
Gibsons performed a ground-up Business Requirements Analysis to identify processing needs. All stakeholders were consulted in this analysis, from executives right through to casual desk staff to ensure every role’s needs would be incorporated in any future solution.
Post-analysis, the technology selection process was rigorous.
Best fit was sought across
- managed services for hardware, telephony and desktop;
- fit-for-purpose application software and services for the student accommodation industry;
- general purpose application software for accounting, payroll, rostering etc.
Gibsons project managed the successful implementation of the solution over a 15 month period.
The new technology was implemented at the beginning of the growth phase of the business and did not require any further investment or scaling when it was called upon to handle 8-10 times the volume of transactions as the business grew.
When thinking about digital and technology strategies for your business, a Whole-of-Business approach that considers the customer and business outcomes is required. This is not typically the core area of focus for your “IT Guy”, nor even many IT service providers.
